The proposed article aims to examine the composition of the human intestinal microbiota and its persistence through the different stages of life, identifing significant variations in the intestinal microbiota between female and male, by using metagenomic techniques and functional genomics. In addition, have been identified a selective persistence of microbial species in woman gut until the fertile age and then vertically transferred to the next generation, demonstrating how the female organism has evolved to transmit a specific and advantageous bacterial colonizers to the infant. These microorganisms belong to the Bifidobacterium genus, known for its positive effects on the human host.
