This study focus on an interesting strategy to tackle the treatment of endodontic infections related to resistant microrganisms such as E. faecalis.
The combined action of short time of Near-Infrared (NIR) Light-Emitting Diode (LED) irradiation with low concentrations of NaOCl exerts a noticeable antibiofilm activity against E. faecalis preformed biofilm on artificial and human dentin surfaces. The best performance obtained on human dentin discs, mimicking the E. faecalis root canal environment, strongly encourages the use of this combination in the control and treatment of preformed E. faecalis biofilm in endodontic infections.
