Environmental and biotic interactions must be considered in order to better understand the Horizontal Gene Tranfer (HGT) in microbial communities.

The Mobile Genetic Elements (MGE), including plasmids – bacteriophages – trasposons, form a web of potential DNA transfers moving within microorganisms.

Emerging techniques including molecular approaches such as transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics also applied to microbioms to fermented foods models can open new doors for understanding the microbial HGT dynamics in multi species communities.
