Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a Gram negative rod-shaped bacterium and known to cause multiple infections in cystic fibrosis patients. Patients with cystic fibrosis  have a lower incidence of melanoma and breast cancer than non-cystic fibrosis patients, which makes it interesting to observe closely the relationship between P. aeruginosa and the tumor cells. In this article, researchers evaluated bacterium-tumor communication and the resulting effect on tumor cells growth and studied the interaction of P. aeruginosa with human cancer cells and its role in tumor homeostasis. The results demonstrated the mutual effect between P. aeruginosa and cancer cells in which the cupredoxin azurin produced by P. aeruginosa inhibited tumor growth while the increased amount of aldolase-A, produced by cancer cells, enhances P. aeruginosa adherence. This relationship could be used as a new strategy in the field of cancer therapy.
