The eradication of Helicobacter pylori infections is complex due to the growing problem of antibiotic resistance. Another important aspect is that the prolonged use of antibiotics in therapy affects on gut microbiota, inducing dysbiosis that cause intestinal discomfort  like diarrhea, abdominal distension and nausea, and the prevalence of enteric pathogens. In this article the authors underline that the use of non-viable Lactobacillus reuteri DSM17648 supplementation together with 14-day standard triple therapy did not significantly affect  the Hpylori eradication but it restore the gut microbiota, increasing the beneficial bacteria, reducing the side effects related to the drug therapy anti-Hpylori.
