Chronic wounds represent a silent epidemic problem affecting billions of people worldwide. Microbial infections are an important cause of wound healing delay.

In this work, graphene oxide (GO) displays an inhibitory activity on the main isolated pathogens in chronic wounds infections such as Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa grown in dual species biofilm.

An interesting in vitro model mimicking a realistic in vivo multispecies biofilm (Lubbock Chronic Wounds Biofilm model) that develops into chronic wounds was performed.
